Coronet model 803

United States
c.1902. A creme colored batiste corset made by the Coronet Corset Company (Jackson, Mich.).
The corset has tiny bouquets of light blue and seafoam green flowers embroidered in silk on each bone casing and a matching seafoam green silk ribbon decorates the top of the busk. A narrow band of lace with matching light blue and seafoam green baby ribbon inserted through it, decorates the top and bottom of the corset. The original owner added a small triangular gusset onto each side of the hip to enlarge it giving it a more dramatic waist/hip ratio.
A low, heart shaped bustline would have been appropriate to wear with a low necked evening gown and would have enhanced the cleavage.
The corset is not lined and is boned with watchspring and has a straight front busk. A cotton twill tape is found on the inside with "Coronet Corsets 803" stamped on it.
Measurements: Underbust 28", Waist 17 1/2" (although it is stamped 19"), Hips 24 1/2", Busk length 8".
